Operations Reporting Including Contractor Data
Problem 1
Poorly standardized
Problem 2
Impossible to report in a timely manner.
It cannot be underestimated the pressure felt by firms challenged with conforming and meeting the stringent standards now found in ESG. Further, all industries with a large contractor contingent struggle to monitor and manage the safety performance across operations. Contractors are regularly expected to submit safety forms on site – frequently on paper, sometimes digitally. The result can be contracting firms with little or no information about their own performance other than their claims data from WCB. This does not foster a performance improvement culture, just a reporting requirement culture.
EHS is working with a large sector operator and their contingent of sub-contractors in an innovative approach to data submission which provides benefits to all participants by delivering fully standardized digital reports to the operator in real-time. The operator is currently collecting spreadsheets, paper copies and myriad other forms. These are difficult to aggregate in their operations – with significant hours of data entry. Further, record completion is inconsistent, causing issues with tracking.
The operator can now provide the EHS Mobile app, customized to the sector and functional for the contractors such that appropriate reports are automatically delivered into the reporting system to the operator. The contractor gets the valuable benefit of retained records for their database and a system for broader use in all their operations – their own internal safety management application. For the operator’s larger contractors, EHS is integrating with their existing internal systems automatically so that firms don’t have to change when and how they enter data. This integrated data flows into the EHS DataHub and is available to the operator for complete reporting and evaluation of operational safety performance.
This approach represents the ultimate implementation of the EHS Platform to ensure data is united from across disparate systems and is delivered on time to those who need it. It demonstrates that a holistic picture can be delivered in an operation to assess and adjust safety performance dynamically and with significant results.
